My husband

Postby dianeokie » Thu Oct 22, 2009 11:02 pm

My mom has had symptoms of this terrible disease for 14 years and been diagnosed for 5+, previously diagnosed as PD. She is just now needing a wheelchair, having real difficulty with swallowing, and needing more care. All that being said, I have a new tragedy to deal with.

My husband was diagnosed with ALS this week. He is devastated and symptoms are really coming on quickly. I don't know how I will take care of both of them, keep my job and take care of myself, but God will provide. I know that there are many of us here dealing with difficulty...please keep my family in your prayers.

Diane, you and your family will definitely be in my prayers. I'm sure you and your husband are devastated by this news and I wish there was something I could say to help. Just know our thoughts and hearts are with you.

Diane,
I'm sorry to hear about your husband. Do you have other family members who can help out?

My kids are here to help, but devastated as well. Unfortunately, I have only one sibling, he is 900 miles away and is a predator, so it's better that way. I'm really the only caretaker for my mom, but she is in an assisted living facility that is very helpful to me.
Thanks

Thanks for prayers. We go for a speech eval next week. He does not want this to drag out...I don't know how to console him.
