White Bird

WHITE BIRD

Lightly touching in passing white
Riding easy upon winters breeze
Circling over then breaking flight
Descending gracefully close to me

The two of us alone in the park
With the setting sun hanging low
Amidst leafless trees in the dark
As dusk red and silent did grow

The White Bird came closer still
To my surprise and sheer delight
Peering upward she gave a twill
I greeted “Hello” to be polite

We quietly chattered for a spell
Not knowing what was heard
When she lifted upon air in sail
I bade farewell to White Bird

My purpose that day was sorrow
To brood and kick around despair
With no regard of hope tomorrow
Or for those who love and care

White Bird distracted my gloom
Reminding me the world is grand
That in life there is always room
To take or lend a saving hand

Hi Richard-

I will share this with my Mother when the time is right. I wish she could communicate with other patients like you. You inspire both the patients and the caregivers... thank you.
