This is the agressive delay solution....

Postby gulfcoastpsp » Tue Nov 05, 2013 2:55 am

It takes Dr. Dean Anthony Nasser, the great communicator, to provide great solution to families coping with PSP. It is our opinion that this process allows freedom and purpose. Please look at this link as we have been discussing for several years to this forum.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W3ZWhZsR4hs

Are you saying that your family member with PSP uses the vest that is described in the video as being for the "rare and genetic disease" of cystic fibrosis?

My family member uses The Vest as prescribe by the pulmonary doctor that consulted with the neurologist once the first episode of pneumonia was present. It is our opinion that every PSP patient should have this durable medical equipment as prolong delay with progression. A productive cough may be present once The Vest unit session is completed.

On a footnote, this medical device is manufactured by Hill Rom and is sold directly to the patient, not by a DME company. In the gulf coast region it retails for approximately $15,000.00.

In our opinion, families coping with respiratory issues should visit www.thevest.com and determine if this solution fits their family needs.

With that price, I'm not sure many others could afford this. Glad it works for your family member.

We believe this device can be affordable if families use this approach with their health insurance:

Ask your health insurance case manager the following series of questions;

1. What is more cost effective in managing your loved one's medical costs?

2. Purchase The Vest unit to keep your loved one stable or repeatedly shell out the hospital cost (an estimated $50,000+) for every respiratory issues your loved one faces once they are admitted in the hospital to keep them stable?

This should be your basis of argument/persuasion. Let the insurance company do the math, particularly if they realize this can be a cost savings benefit on their end.

We found that customer service staff at Hill Rom, The Vest, were effective in presenting to the health insurance the "medically necessary" case so our loved one to have this device. They were effective advocates.

Our family member received The Vest Unit in early 2010 and there has been zero cases of pneumonia once The Vest unit treatment began.

Our loved one passed away on Feb 20th. Our best champions are Dr. Kathleen Eberle (Houston Neurological Institute or aka http://www.hnineurology.com/) and Dr. Dean Nasser( http://www.lungmedicine.com/) that provided the best feeling INDEPENDENCE that THEY pioneered that made them feel INDEPENDENT every day. Ask them about family solutions
